Job Title: Registered Nurse

St. Mary's Home is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily physical assessments of assigned individuals and administer medications, treatments, and tube feedings as prescribed by the physician.
  • Transcribe and implement physician's orders using the electronic health record and manage and provide care to tracheostomy-dependent and ventilator-dependent individuals after completing the required training.
  • Intervene appropriately in the event of emergencies with individuals or staff and document activities related to nursing and medical care in a timely manner and consistent with established formats.
  • Safeguard individual rights and assist in developing and updating the program plans of individuals when requested.
  • Be knowledgeable about and participate in the provision of Active Treatment programs for individuals and assist with the maintenance of a safe and sanitary environment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and staff development programs as directed and communicate with families and staff.
  • Accompany individuals on appointments or field trips when requested and direct/supervise the delivery of nursing care in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Delegate tasks allowed by the nursing license and act as Charge Nurse as assigned.
  • Precept new nurses and meet the requirements listed below.
Requirements:
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current nursing license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Essential Functions:
  • Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects up to 35 pounds independently.
  • Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Ability to speak clearly and hear speech of another person.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk for long periods of time.
  • Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects.
