About the Opportunity


This is an exciting academic opportunity for a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center. We are seeking a highly qualified individual to lead our research team and contribute to the advancement of respiratory medicine.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Conduct cutting-edge research in respiratory basic/translational science with a focus on acute lung injury.
  • Develop and implement innovative research projects, leading to publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
  • Train and educate students, residents, fellows, and faculty in a research setting, fostering the next generation of researchers.
  • Mentor and evaluate students, fellows, and faculty, ensuring their growth and development.
  • Represent the University at national and international conferences, presenting research findings and advancing the field.
  • Obtain extramural grant funding to support laboratory/research team, enhancing our research capabilities.


Requirements and Qualifications:



  • A PhD or MD degree in a relevant field, with a strong background in molecular biology and research experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in basic/translational research in the respiratory field, with a focus on acute lung injury and inflammatory diseases.
  • Laboratory skills in molecular biology, with experience in conducting experiments and analyzing data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and students.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring, with a passion for educating the next generation of researchers.
  • A proven track record of securing extramural grant funding, with a strong understanding of research administration.
