Manhattan University is a dynamic institution located in Riverdale, NY. We are seeking an experienced Housing Operations Manager to lead the educational leadership and overall operations of two residence halls.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of Resident Assistants, recruiting, motivating, training and guiding students, as well as responding to referral requests in a timely manner.

This role involves liaising with the Physical Plant team to ensure repairs are made and student requests are fulfilled promptly.

Housing and a meal plan are provided at no cost to the employee.

Responsibilities:
  • This position requires interpreting and enforcing College and residence life policies governing student behavior and conduct.
  • The Housing Operations Manager works with Public Safety, Counseling Center, Dining Services, Facilities, and Health Services in responding to emergency/crisis situations in the residence halls.
  • Maintenance of a work schedule that maximizes contact with students, often before and after regular institutional office hours, is expected.
  • Extreme flexibility is required to be successful in this position.
  • Attendance at campus functions, student programs, and after-hours emergency response is regularly required.
  • A strong interest in student development in personal and academic pursuits is essential.
  • This position requires living on campus, in housing accommodations provided by the University.
  • Participation in the campus-wide crisis management duty rotation is also required.
  • Leadership and direction for the residence halls, including promoting community development through passive and active programming and events, is provided.
  • Supervision of professional staff, including emergency response and crisis management, is also part of the job.
  • Training, monitoring, and supervision of Resident Assistants on the student conduct process is performed.
  • Interaction, customer service, and problem-solving with students, parents, and colleagues are key responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required, while a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum one year of work experience is necessary.

Experience with Title IX, ability to communicate with diverse constituents, human development skills, and recruitment and follow-up skills for specialized housing communities are highly valued.
