Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Medical Director and LifePACT Manager or designee, we are seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our team. As a Paramedic, you will be responsible for delivering patient care, training equipment use and maintenance, and research efforts in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform non-invasive patient care alongside the critical care paramedic during transport in accordance with established standards, protocols, and policies under the supervision of the physician medical director (or his/her designee).
  • Provide comprehensive, effective, and safe non-invasive care to any patient transported by LifePACT.
  • Assist in the development of patient care protocols and methods.
  • Participate in training curricula and research.
  • Attend required staff and educational meetings and remain current with literature pertaining to relevant program areas of interest.
  • Assist in writing presentations and papers for publications based on research performed and may present such findings at conferences.
  • Complete patient documentation (written and electronic) per Rhode Island Hospital and The Rhode Island Department of Health: Division of EMS.
  • Perform public education, marketing, and outreach, and maintain a cheerful, positive attitude toward patients and families, co-workers, staff of other facilities, and the public.
  • Maintain a clean operational environment.
  • Retrieve, stock, and clean medical equipment.
  • Report to remote locations for duty. Respond to on-call to emergencies, disasters, and major incidents.
  • Perform data entry and clerical assistance. Assist with Emergency Department communications and dispatch at and for the communications center and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Current State of Rhode Island EMT-Paramedic license with a minimum of 1 year field EMS experience.
  • Current Paramedic certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (instructor status preferred).
  • Maintains certifications as mandated by the position.
  • Valid and current driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Nursing, or related field preferred.
  • Must be able to read, speak legibly, write, and comprehend the English language without restriction.
  • Requires a working knowledge of statistics, verbal and written English communications skills, computer use, and research methodology.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) certification within one year of employment.
Work Environment

The Paramedic will work in a variable environment, including in and out-of-hospital emergency care situations that may include disaster situations with exposure to unknown substances and/or risks, exposure to ill and injured patients, and training environments. Research and training environments may include in and out-of-hospital clinical and medical simulation settings. Requires travel in vehicles, including ambulances and aircraft, including travel to conferences in other areas of the country.
