Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety and Occupational Health Specialist to join our team at the United States Fleet Forces Command. As a key member of our Occupational Safety and Health Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our personnel and the public.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular fire, safety, and health inspections of all work areas to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement effective safety and health programs to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents and occupational illnesses.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on safety and health procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations and standards.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of one year of specialized experience in occupational safety and health, including experience conducting inspections, investigations, and training.
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
