About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Dishwashing Team Member to join our team at La Canita.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for washing and cleaning tableware, pots, pans, and cooking equipment, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.

This role requires strong teamwork and communication skills, as well as the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Promote a culture of cleanliness and safety in the kitchen by adhering to all health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using a dishwasher or by hand.
  • Maintain the dishwasher and surrounding areas in a clean and tidy condition, reporting any issues or concerns to the Kitchen Manager promptly.
  • Monitor and adjust water temperature to ensure optimal wash cycle performance.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of dish detergent and other necessary cleaning materials.
  • Store clean dishes, utensils, and equipment in designated areas, ensuring easy access and minimal clutter.
  • Sweep and mop floors regularly, paying attention to high-traffic areas and zones around equipment.
  • Sort and remove trash, recycling, and recyclables, placing them in designated collection areas.
  • Clean food preparation and production areas, including counters, sinks, and appliances, as needed.
  • Participate in daily cleaning routines, contributing to the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education an asset.
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or related field preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for long periods, and move quickly and efficiently throughout the kitchen.
  • Familiarity with commercial-grade dishwashing equipment and sanitation procedures an asset.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills and ability to manage cash transactions (if applicable).
