As a key member of the DeKalb County team, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless permit processing and customer satisfaction.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Supervise and direct assigned staff to ensure efficient permit processing and customer service.
  • Develop and oversee employee work schedules to guarantee adequate coverage and control.
  • Compile and review timesheets, process employee concerns, and counsel or discipline as necessary.
  • Assist with or complete employee performance appraisals, providing constructive feedback for growth and development.
  • Direct work, prioritize tasks, and act as a liaison between employees and management.
  • Organize and assign work, ensuring subordinates have necessary resources to complete tasks.
  • Monitor work status, inspect completed work, and provide technical expertise as needed.
  • Perform customer service functions, providing information and assistance related to division services, activities, procedures, fees, applications, and forms.
  • Process permit applications, verifying accuracy and completeness, and ensuring proper licensure and zoning designations.
  • Issue over-the-counter permits, process applications for new construction, and verify state/local licenses as necessary.
  • Ensure permit documentation is complete, receive monies for payment of permit fees, and calculate permit fees.
  • Process contractor registrations, issue and renew registrations, and verify state and business licenses.


Requirements:


  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in processing building permits or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • An Associate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A valid Georgia driver's license and ICC certification as a Permit Technician.
