Optometrist Medical Group Kensington

As an Optometrist in our Medical Group, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality eye care to our patients. Your expertise will be essential in examining patients with a wide range of visual problems, diagnosing visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribing treatment accordingly. You will also refer patients to other appropriate Kaiser Permanente providers as needed for further evaluation and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough eye exams using a range of optometry instruments and techniques.
- Diagnose and treat visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies in accordance with state laws and regulations.
- Prescribe and fit contact lenses to meet the unique needs of our patients.
- Determine the visual requirements of patients with partial sight and provide recommendations for low-vision aids.
- Collaborate with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in departmental and educational meetings to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in optometry.
- Develop and implement eye care in-service education programs for medical center staff and patients.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry.
- Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire date.
- Optometrist License (Maryland) OR Optometrist License (Virginia) OR Optometrist License (District of Columbia).
- Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association.
- National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interdisciplinary health care environment.
- Accredited residency in Optometry.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position with 50% travel and one required Saturday/month. You will be working in a dynamic and collaborative environment with a team of healthcare professionals.
