We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Integrated Case Worker to join our team at Merit System Services. As an Integrated Case Worker, you will be responsible for determining eligibility for public assistance benefits, providing employment services to clients, and performing casework management duties.
Key Responsibilities- Determine eligibility for public assistance benefits and provide employment services to clients
- Conduct interviews, advise, and guide clients to ascertain employability and evaluate need for public assistance
- Handle crisis situations by authorizing benefits within specific guidelines or making appropriate referrals to other staff and community resources
- Conduct initial appraisals of case records to assess client's education, work experience, skills, abilities, and job interest
- Assist clients with transportation, training, and other ancillary needs through authorization of ancillary services/payments and/or referral to other community resources
- Identify clients with existing or potential social behavioral, mental health, substance abuse, or other substantial barriers to employment for referral to other department staff or community resources
- Analyze financial, employment, family, and personal information to determine and authorize initial or continuing eligibility for multiple aid programs
- Develop and/or conduct classes designed to assist clients in obtaining and maintaining employment
- Two (2) years of full-time experience performing clerical duties, including substantial public contact with clients and basic interviewing for the purpose of gathering information and explaining policies or clarifying information needed
- OR Eighteen (18) months of full-time experience with responsibility for one or more of the following: determining eligibility for loans, financial assistance, unemployment, veteran's benefits, or publicly or privately financed health counseling and/or social services programs
- OR Eighteen (18) months of full-time experience with responsibility for performing case management, vocational guidance services, employment counseling or placement work
- OR Successful completion of 60 semester (90 quarter) units of college, including 15 semester (22.5 quarter units) or 15 continuing education credits in behavioral science in sociology, psychology, counseling, vocational guidance or any coursework related to the provision of employment services
