Skilled Trades Maintenance Worker

Job Summary:
The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports is seeking a skilled trades maintenance worker to join our team. As a journey-level craftsperson, you will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semiskilled maintenance, repair, installation, and construction tasks in the mechanical, building, motor equipment, and electronic trades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lay out construction, repair, and maintenance projects.
- Perform electrical maintenance work, including the installation of circuits, lighting, and wiring.
- Conduct plumbing maintenance work, including the installation, alteration, and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, ventilating, heating control, water, and drainage systems.
- Perform general carpentry duties, including the installation and maintenance of walls, ceilings, cabinets, doors, windows, flooring, and insulation.
- Conduct general masonry work, including the patching of holes with fresh concrete and applying ceramic tiles to walls, floors, and ceilings.
- Perform painting and spackling tasks.
- Inspect and maintain HVAC systems.
- Maintain the building fire suppression system and fire alarm system.
- Operate and maintain the emergency generator.
- Serve as the liaison with the Office of General Services and the OASAS Bureau of Capital Management for major repairs and renovations involving the mechanical systems of the building.
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must have four years of full-time experience in a trade under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson. You must also be able to read and understand written and oral instructions, and have a valid NYS driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Skilled in one or more trades, demonstrates computer literacy, and ability to work with considerable independence.
