Chief Medical Officer

Cayuga Medical Center is seeking an experienced physician to lead our team in Ithaca, NY.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality medical care to patients, collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and contributing to the overall well-being of patients.
According to various sources, the estimated annual salary for this position is between $530,000.00 and $590,000.00.
Job Description:
- Patient Care
- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and assessments to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for patients, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances.
- Prescribe medication and other appropriate therapies to ensure effective patient outcomes.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging to inform treatment decisions.
- Perform medical procedures and surgeries when necessary, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to optimize patient care.
- Provide patient education to empower them to manage their health effectively.
- Communication
- Effectively communicate with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure seamless coordination of care.
- Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in a timely fashion, adhering to established standards and protocols.
- Clinical Expertise
- Stay current with the latest medical research, treatments, and technologies to provide evidence-based care.
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME) and peer review activities to maintain expertise and stay abreast of industry developments.
- Collaborate with other specialists and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and improve clinical outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with advanced practice providers to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Participate in the education of clinical learners to ensure the next generation of healthcare professionals receives comprehensive training.
- Quality and Safety
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and reduce medical errors.
- Ensure safe care is provided to all patients by adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Ethical and Professional Standards
- Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards of medical practice, upholding patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Comply with all relevant laws and regulations governing medical practice.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Doctorate (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Have successfully completed a residency or fellowship commensurate with the area of specialty.
- Be board certified or eligible in the appropriate specialty, by a board acceptable to Cayuga Medical Center.
- Obtain and maintain an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
- Obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the Health system.
- Hold a current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the applicable state.
- Demonstrate strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based medicine.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Show compassion, empathy, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Able to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and CME.
