We are seeking a highly skilled Field Archaeologist to join our team at Environmental Research Group, LLC. As a Field Archaeologist, you will be responsible for conducting archaeological investigations on federal and state contracts in various locations. This will include pedestrian survey, shovel testing, and unit excavation. You must be able to walk 4 to 8 miles a day for survey work, excavate shovel tests, screen dirt, and use hand-held devices to record data.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a B.A. in anthropology, archaeology, paleontology, or a related field. You will be expected to travel to project locations and work in a fast-paced environment. We offer competitive salary ranges from $46k-56k/year and a benefits package that includes H&W benefit and lodging and meal stipend based on 2023 GSA rates.

Positions require a minimum of a B.A. in anthropology, archaeology, paleontology, or a related field. Archaeologists will be expected to travel to the project location on the day fieldwork starts. Fieldwork will consist of pedestrian survey with shovel testing and unit excavation. You must be able to walk 4 to 8 miles a day for survey work, excavate shovel tests, screen dirt from 10-20 cm levels through a 1⁄4" mesh screen, and use hand-held devices to record shovel test depth, soil characteristics and Munsell colors by level, and describe any artifacts found at each level.
