Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Oncology Research Coordinator to join our team at Sarah Cannon Research Institute. This role is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to make a meaningful impact in the lives of cancer patients.

About the Role

This position will be responsible for coordinating clinical trials in a clinic setting, ensuring protocol compliance, and administering chemotherapy as ordered by physicians. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in medical and research terminology, as well as experience in acute care nursing and oncology.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Closely follow study patient(s) throughout treatment course ensuring protocol compliance.
  • Administer chemotherapy as ordered by physicians.
  • Read and interpret EKGs.
  • Communicate all protocol-related issues/problems to the investigator.
  • Audit and assess patient for side effects of treatment and symptoms related to disease or disease progression.
  • Audit and assess lab data and communicate abnormal findings to the investigator and oncologist.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of follow-up forms, medical records, and lab data.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff to provide timely and accurate study drug distribution.
  • Educate and orient ancillary staff in study-specific procedures.
  • Document and report adverse events.
  • Perform telephone triage and provide patient counseling and referral to appropriate support services.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • An Associate Degree; preferably a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Current licensure in the state of Colorado as a Registered Nurse.
  • Strong knowledge of medical and research terminology.
  • Experience in clinical research processes and Phase I protocol.
  • At least one year of acute care nursing experience required.
  • Previous experience in oncology and research settings preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification (can complete within nine months of start date).
  • ONS Chemotherapy Provider card (can complete within nine months of start date).
