Early Childhood Program Assistant

Description:
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with young children and their families. As a PT Early Childhood Program Assistant, you will work closely with the Early Childhood Program Coordinator to provide comprehensive services to children from birth through four years old living in supportive housing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement a range of activities to promote socio-emotional growth in young children, including problem-solving, conflict resolution, and social skills development.
- Provide opportunities for children to explore and develop their cultural identity.
- Record progress of individual children's skill development and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure a safe, positive, and healthy learning environment for children to thrive.
- Maintain regular open communication with parents and guardians.
- Report any suspected child abuse to the supervisor.
- Keep accurate records of attendance and time sheets.
- Attend ongoing trainings and professional development opportunities as needed.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure a positive experience for children.
Requirements:
- One year of experience working with children and families.
- A valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
- Ability to pass and maintain Minnesota Background Study clearance.
Essential Skills:
- Reliability, motivation, and a team player attitude.
- Enjoyment of working hands-on with children.
- Experience working in a structured children's setting.
- Familiarity with children's resources in the community and ability to access new opportunities.
- Competency in using computer programs such as Microsoft Word and ability to learn new systems as needed.
- Openness to working some evening hours.
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently, prioritizing job duties.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Understanding and sensitivity to the effects of trauma on individuals and its impact on successful residency.
- Skill in building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse participants and co-workers.
- Regular attendance, reliability, and punctuality.
- Sensitivity and effectiveness when working with people from diverse backgrounds and with special needs.
Physical Demands:
This role requires the ability to safely navigate stairs, bend, squat, kneel, reach overhead, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
