The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary ranging from $79,000 to $91,000 per year, depending on their educational degree and years of full-time teaching experience.

Job Summary

">

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Literacy Coach to join our Lower School team at Francis Parker School. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of improving literacy outcomes for students and will be skilled in coaching teachers to enhance their instructional practices. This is a full-time position that requires a high level of collaboration and communication with colleagues, as well as the ability to work independently to develop and implement effective literacy programs.

Responsibilities

">
  • Coordinate and facilitate the JK-5 literacy program, ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment and inclusive curriculum development
  • Collaborate with faculty on inclusive and culturally responsive curriculum and teaching practices
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide demonstrations of methods and materials to improve instruction
  • Assist classroom teachers in developing rubrics, approaches for evaluating students' skills, and strengthening instructional strategies
  • Schedule, lead, and provide teacher training for benchmark screenings of literacy skills
  • Interpret and disseminate results from various classroom assessments and other standardized measures, maintaining a database of literacy progress for students
  • Analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of literacy programs and instruction
  • Provide instructional coaching during planning sessions with teachers, modeling lessons, and conducting feedback sessions following lesson observations
  • Plan and develop staff development opportunities for teachers regarding instructional and assessment strategies
  • Lead parent education and workshops
  • Serve on the Student Success Team

Qualifications

">
  • A degree (B.A., B.S., or M.Ed.) plus a minimum of three years teaching experience at the elementary level
  • Advanced certification/experience and specialization in literacy
  • Familiarity with independent, college preparatory school curriculum and knowledge of National, State, and Content Area Standards in literacy for each grade level (JK-8)
  • Experience coaching teachers (minimum two years desired)
  • Experience designing and delivering professional development required
  • Understanding of learning processes and ability to differentiate instruction
  • Ability to work with a team of colleagues, classroom teachers, and parents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with Mac programs and Google Suite
