Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CDL A Driver to join our team at MEI Rigging & Crating. As a CDL A Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating tractor trailer rigs to transport equipment and crews to job sites, while adhering to DOT regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Heavy Haulage Operations: Routinely haul oversized/overweight loads, up to 12' wide and 110,000 lb. gross weight, while demonstrating knowledge of load securement and safe hauling practices.
  • Tractor Trailer Operations: Drive safely and under DOT regulations to transport equipment and crews to job sites, requiring safe handling of loads, securement of loads, loading and unloading of equipment.
  • Load Management: Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure the safety of workers and materials.
  • Rigging and Moving: Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools, and control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge of alignment, leveling, and anchoring of machinery, and manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials.
  • Vehicle Operations: Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment, running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, tractor trailers, telehandlers, aerial boom lifts, etc.
  • Rigging Inspection: Test Rigging to ensure safety and reliability, and dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
  • Equipment Selection: Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
Requirements
  • Valid Class A CDL: Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Policy Adherence: Understand and follow policies and procedures.
  • Manual Transmission: Must be able to drive manual transmission.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Equipment Operation: Basic knowledge of operating equipment, such as forklifts, man lifts, platforms lift, etc.
  • Tool Proficiency: Ability to use take measure, hand power, and pneumatic tools.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Physical Activity: Perform general physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials up to 50 pounds.
