Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our team in Charlottesville, VA. This role will involve developing and testing models of aerospace systems, including air-launched weapons, ballistic missile systems, avionics, hypersonic vehicles, and guidance, navigation, and controls.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, integrate, and test models of aerospace systems based on provided information, research, and engineering principles.
  • Document model performance against requirements.
  • Document algorithm design.
  • Work collaboratively with an engineering team comprised of internal and external team members.
  • Interact with external stakeholders to define requirements and perform model demonstrations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 2+ years experience in aerospace modeling and simulation, or related field.
  • Experience with 3DOF/6DOF flight models, MATLAB/Simulink, system level requirements, and the systems engineering process.
  • Demonstrated understanding of aerospace systems functionality and interdependency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as SVN and Git.
  • Experience in C++ or Python.
  • An understanding of basic GNC algorithms.
  • Experience simulating ballistic missiles, air-launched missiles, and/or hypersonic vehicles.
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $117,500 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
