About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the level of receptive and expressive speech and language skills, swallowing skills, and social/pragmatic skills of individuals. You will develop, modify, and implement individual and group therapy/treatment programs to enhance communication, address swallowing deficiencies, and prevent asphyxiation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the level of receptive and expressive speech and language skills, swallowing skills, and social/pragmatic skills of individuals.
  • Develop, modify, and implement individual and group therapy/treatment programs to enhance communication, address swallowing deficiencies, and prevent asphyxiation.
  • Design and deliver speech, language, and dysphagia management services, including hearing screenings, for individuals and/or groups.
  • Design and deliver in-service training to other staff on speech-language techniques/protocols to be used in carrying out individual and group communication and/or swallowing treatments/therapy on or off site.
  • Act as sign language interpreter as necessary.
  • Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide professional insight and goal planning for treatment and care of individuals.
  • Counsel/inform guardians/family members regarding speech-language, hearing, and/or swallowing issues.
  • Compose/complete reports, lesson plans, and other program-related documents necessary to implement, modify, and track progress of treatment/therapy programs for individuals and/or groups.

  • Licensed as a speech-language pathologist in the state of Ohio per Section of revised code.
