Job Overview
The Meal Service Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient functioning of the meal distribution site.

This role involves coordinating the preparation of home-delivered meals for volunteers and managing the setup, serving, and cleanup of community dining events.

The Supervisor ensures compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards, regularly maintaining equipment and the cleanliness of dining areas.

Additionally, this position includes managing the volunteer schedule, including making reminder calls to volunteers for upcoming shifts.

The Supervisor also handles supply orders, including meal provisions, and organizes events for community dining locations.

Finally, this role requires the completion of end-of-day documentation, which encompasses financial reconciliation, recording operational details, and securing funds.

Key Responsibilities
The following tasks are essential for this position and must be performed effectively:

Food Safety Management:
Monitors food temperatures, ensures proper food storage, and maintains accurate dating of food items.

Records temperature data upon delivery, during meal service, and for community diners.


Coordination of Home-Delivered Meals:
Reviews delivery routes, labels meals accurately for volunteers, and notes any cancellations.

Ensures meals are stored at appropriate temperatures and prepares meal trays for delivery, including instructions for volunteers.

Upon return, reviews any customer feedback with volunteers and sanitizes equipment used during service.


Setup and Service:
Prepares dining areas by washing and sanitizing tables, and setting them with necessary dining items.
Meal Serving:


Prepares and serves beverages, checks food temperatures prior to serving, and portions meals according to established guidelines.


Cleanup Operations:


Handles the cleanup of serving areas, including washing tables, sweeping floors, and sanitizing utensils and equipment.


Sanitation Practices:
Maintains a clean and disinfected work environment, ensuring compliance with health standards.
Daily Administrative Tasks:
Collects attendance sheets, tallies daily donations, and maintains accurate records of meals served.

Coordinates meal orders based on community needs and manages volunteer schedules.


Volunteer Coordination:
Ensures adequate volunteer coverage for meal service and communicates with volunteers regarding their responsibilities.
Supervision of Volunteers:
Oversees volunteers during meal service, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately, while also recording volunteer hours.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School diploma required.
Experience working with senior populations is preferred, along with food service experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
Successful completion of food safety training post-hire is mandatory.
Additional training in areas such as customer service and emergency preparedness is required within specified timeframes.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to effectively interact with elderly individuals, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to cleanliness and sanitation are essential.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality are required.


Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Work Environment:
Administrative tasks may be conducted in a shared space with some distractions.

Occasional setup of additional tables and chairs may be necessary.
