Purpose and Overview
At Floor & Decor, we are constantly on the lookout for exceptional talent to join our team as a Store Manager in Training and Chief Executive Merchant (CEMIT). These leadership roles are crucial for the success of our big box retail stores. To become a CEMIT, you must be flexible and willing to relocate to cities where our stores are in need of Store Managers and Chief Executive Merchants. As a CEMIT, you will join our organization with the goal of taking on the role of Store Manager and Chief Executive Merchant as quickly as possible, usually within 12-15 weeks. Store Managers and Chief Executive Merchants are responsible for running their stores, creating strategies for business success, and leading high-performing teams to drive retail sales and achieve competitive results in complex store environments.
Essential Responsibilities
• Oversee retail store operations and management teams to ensure sales goals are met and exceeded.
• Develop and maintain successful partnerships with store, regional, and Store Support Center associates.
• Utilize the CARE model to create an environment that is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient for customers.
• Recruit, interview, and select management teams and sales associates to ensure the store is properly staffed, especially during peak traffic periods.
• Train and develop high-performing management teams and ensure high-quality supervision, training, and development of sales associates.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
• 3-5 years of management experience leading a big box retail store is required.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills and a creative merchant-first mindset.
• Proven ability to lead a large team and direct operations at all levels in a high-volume, complex store environment.
• Strong background and experience in merchandising, sales generation, operations, inventory control, budget management, and managing profit and loss (P&L).
• Demonstrated experience recruiting, selecting, hiring, onboarding, developing, and coaching high-performing retail sales and operations teams.
• Excellent communication, analytical, planning, organization, time management, follow-up, and delegation skills.
• Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change with a sense of urgency.
Working Conditions
• Occasional travel may be required, including air and car travel.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles.
Physical/Sensory Requirements
• Physical Work - Ability to exert 30-60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20-30 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
