Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is excited to offer a unique externship experience for veterinary students. This opportunity will allow you to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting, working alongside our experienced team of veterinarians and support staff.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit
- Must provide proof of professional liability insurance
Hospital Information
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists has two state-of-the-art facilities, located in Buzzards Bay and Dennis, on iconic Cape Cod. Our team is committed to providing 24/7 care with a highly skilled support team and specialists in Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Exotics, and Diagnostic Imaging.
What to Expect
We encourage active participation from externs, introduce them to our clients, and truly make them part of our team. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of cases, conduct preliminary exams, and formulate plans for diagnostics and treatment. We also encourage externs to select one case per week to further research and engage the veterinarians in further case discussion.
Species Treated and Services Offered
We treat a wide range of species, including dogs, cats, and exotics. Our services include endoscopy, soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, emergency & critical care, cardiology, internal medicine, anesthesiology, dermatology, exotics, ultrasound, and CT.
Our Team
We have over 25 full-time doctors and 4 part-time doctors on our team, all dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our patients.
