About the Role

AECOM is seeking a talented Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join our team in the Greater Pennsylvania area. As a key member of our Transportation Department in Mechanicsburg, PA, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and contribute to the effective delivery of our department's current and future portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Builds analytic and design skills through hands-on experience and mentorship.
  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and standards.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer, using computer software to solve basic engineering problems.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Academic track with a structural engineering concentration is highly desirable.
  • 1-2 cycles of relevant internship experience in the execution of structural design projects is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Some production software experience, including MicroStation, AutoCAD, MS Office, and Bluebeam, is highly desirable.
  • Some structural analysis software experience, including STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, and LUSAS, is a plus.
  • Basic familiarity and working knowledge of relevant building codes and standards, including AASHTO, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318, ACI 530, NDS, etc.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Master of Science in Structural Engineering or related field is a plus.
  • A valid U.S. Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one before employment, is preferred for visiting project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
