Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Security Guard to join our team at Women In Need, Inc. As a Security Guard, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of our residents, staff, and visitors.

About Us:

Women In Need, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing transitional and supportive shelters for women-led families. Our mission is to break the cycle of homelessness by offering comprehensive services and support to help our clients achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities:

The Security Guard will be responsible for:
  • Maintaining a secure and functional environment for residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Welcome new families, conducting orientation, and providing house rules.
  • Handling incidents using standard operating procedures.
  • Observing all residents and recognizing signs of substance abuse, child abuse, and criminal activity.
  • Maintaining excellent telephone skills and transferring calls appropriately.
  • Aquiring understanding of building features and potential problems.
  • Maintaining daily log books, school attendance, visitor, and resident sign-in logs.
  • Patrolling transitional housing sites/apartments, maintaining standing posts, and conducting vertical patrols.
  • Visiting multiple units as required and reporting any incidents to the appropriate security shift supervisor.
  • Attending program and agency staff meetings, house meetings, and training sessions as required.

Requirements:

To be successful as a Security Guard, you must have:
  • A commitment to Win's mission.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid Fire Guard Certification / F02.
  • A valid NYS Security Guard License.
  • The ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing).
  • The ability to interact effectively with the facility staff and client population.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and during stressful situations.
  • Familiarity with CCTV systems.
  • The willingness and ability to remain at post beyond regularly scheduled hours until appropriate relief arrives.
  • The ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Compensation:
