District Family Advocate

The Poughkeepsie City School District seeks a Substitute District Family Advocate - Spanish Speaking to engage parents in the educational process and provide support to parent leaders and principals. This role will give voice to the concerns of families and parent leaders, assist principals in creating active parent-teacher organizations, and facilitate effective school-home communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to families during the school enrollment process
- Develop an awareness of specific concerns and needs of the Spanish-speaking population in the school district
- Assist parent leaders in their efforts to develop family-friendly schools
- Collaborate with families, teachers, parent organizations, community-based partners, and business leaders to develop programs and activities designed to engage families in improving student achievement
Appointment:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service.
