About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at Microsoft. This role will involve working on the development of high-quality Windows experiences on first-generation silicon, with a focus on multimedia and firmware/driver development.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements for scenarios related to multimedia and firmware.
  • Drive the identification of dependencies and development of design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms.
  • Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to establish and improve performance, maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with stakeholders to drive project plans, release plans, and work items.
  • Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following playbooks, monitoring system/product/service status, alerting stakeholders about status, and initiating actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems.
  • Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of practical, demonstrated experience with multimedia firmware/driver development (audio, camera, video codecs).
  • Debugging of hardware/firmware/software interactions.
  • 2+ years of design and coding skills in C/C++.
Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this position is $117,200 - $229,200 per year, depending on location and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for additional benefits and compensation.
