Technology Expert Educator

CABVI seeks a skilled Technology Teacher to instruct children and adults who are blind and visually impaired in computer and technology skills.
This full-time position offers opportunities for professional growth, including workshops, conferences, and staff training days. The successful candidate will work closely with the Assistive Technology Manager to develop innovative programs and services.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, teaching ability, and the capacity to work effectively with diverse personalities. Strong computer skills and extensive knowledge of technology are essential, particularly in mainstream devices and software applications.
A minimum of an associate's degree in teaching, vocational training, technology, or education is preferred. Formal training certificates in software or hardware applications may be substituted for advanced degrees. At least one year of experience in a teaching or training capacity is also desired.
Responsibilities include:
- Remaining current in technology advancements and willing to learn assistive technology and applications for those with visual impairments.
- Developing and conducting creative, interesting, and educational programs for both adults and children with visual impairments in residential, remote, and day programs.
- Providing classroom instruction within the technology center and assisting with program participant recruitment.
- Researching advances in the technology field, new products, and applications, attending trainings and meetings as needed.
- Ensuring the provision of quality technology services and timely delivery of these services to CABVI consumers.
- Establishing professional, collegial relationships with school districts, other CABVI departments, funding/grant sources, and related groups.
- Providing technology services to children with visual impairments located in public/private school settings.
- Offering consultative services to teachers and school personnel, completing assessments, developing lesson plans, and submitting quarterly and annual reports.
This position also offers a PT/NB option of up to 19 hours per week at a premium hourly rate of $52.38.
