Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care in the MICU unit. This position requires a seasoned nurse with leadership skills and experience in ICU settings.

Responsibilities
  • Assists with admission and discharge processes, promoting efficient throughput and exceptional patient care.
  • Participates in quality assessment initiatives, collaborating with the management team to drive continuous improvement.
  • Cultivates a culture of teamwork, working closely with subject matter experts and other managers to achieve improved outcomes and service.
  • Serves as a patient advocate, engaging in service recovery when necessary and upholding the hospital's commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Supports employee engagement initiatives, operationalizing existing nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly rounds, to enhance the overall work environment.
  • Participates in staff development, recommending training and development opportunities, conflict resolution strategies, and performance evaluations to ensure a competitive organization.
  • Assists with staff scheduling, managing labor resources in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
  • Maintains inventory control, assisting with supply management and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Current Texas State RN license or compact license required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree.
  • BSN required within 1 year; Magnet/Pathways Accredited hospitals require BSN at time of hire.
  • Certification in specialty required within 1 year.
  • Completion of charge nurse course required within one year.
  • Leadership training and involvement in professional organizations highly preferred.
  • Previous ICU experience required.
  • Two (2) years of clinical practice in the clinical specialty of the unit and leadership/management experience is preferred.
