Orthopedic Trauma Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to join our Ortho Trauma/Neuro Unit team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will have the opportunity to work with a collaborative and welcoming environment.
About the RoleThe Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for upholding the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. You will practice professional nursing as a registered nurse within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model.
You will establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients and families, communicate effectively, work collaboratively with the healthcare team, and respect patients' values, preferences, expressed needs, and knowledge of their healthcare situation. Your role will also involve employing strategies to promote health and a safe environment, evaluating progress toward attainment of outcomes, and contributing to quality nursing practice.
Responsibilities- Practice according to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice (2015), which include assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Evaluate your own and others' nursing practice, contribute to quality nursing practice, and utilize appropriate resources to plan, provide, and sustain evidence-based nursing services that are safe, effective, and fiscally responsible.
To be successful in this role, you must possess a graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, a BSN or demonstrated BSN enrollment required with completion within three years of hire. All newly hired Registered Nurses must have current BCLS certification or must obtain within one month of hire. A license and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut is also required.
Work EnvironmentThis role requires prolonged standing; walking; use of sight, hearing, and touch. You may be exposed to infectious diseases and physical, mental, and emotional illness, as well as end-of-life conditions and death. Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care are also present.
Compensation and BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as excellent benefits, including opportunities for career advancement and informal leadership roles within the unit. We also provide a 36-hour full-time schedule and a great work environment.
