About the Job
Michaels Stores is seeking an Event Planning and Customer Experience Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our store operations, you will play a vital role in creating unforgettable events for our customers.

Job Description
This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing events within Michaels stores, ensuring a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. You will deliver exceptional customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they're looking for, while also providing a fast and friendly checkout experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
  • Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards, setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after each event.

Customer Service Responsibilities:
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions.
  • Provide fast and friendly check out experience.
  • Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
  • Participate in the truck un-load, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
  • Support shrink and safety programs.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.
  • Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization's vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
  • Cross-trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.

Other Duties: This role may require performing additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Experience working with children and children's events.
  • Good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication, as well as listening skills.
  • Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.

Work Environment:
This role requires the ability to remain standing for long periods, move throughout the store, regularly bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch. Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment are also required. The work environment is a public retail store setting, with climate-controlled areas and some stock rooms that may not be climate-controlled. Outdoor work may be required to retrieve shopping carts or unload trucks. The frame shop contains glass cutters and heat presses, and work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Total Base Pay Range for this Position: $14.42 - $16.70
