Marine Coatings Specialist

At International Marine and Industrial Applicators, we are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team in Seattle, WA. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for assisting in surface preparation, mixing of paint, application of coating, striping, and clean up. This role requires a willingness to learn and follow directions concerning painting in the marine industry.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure surfaces are prepared for coating according to paint manufacturers' specifications;
- Paint surfaces using approved methods, striping tanks in a productive and timely manner as well as mixing paint as directed;
- Work within OSHA requirements relative to the shipbuilding industry;
- Comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations;
- Accurately operate, clean, and maintain all assigned equipment;
- Properly store equipment; dispose of empty paint and solvent cans appropriately;
- Store and take appropriate precautions for paint and solvents as directed by supervisor;
- Knowledgeable in checking wet film mil (WFT) thickness being applied;
- Assist sprayers in pulling lines;
- Follow directions correctly and promptly;
- Formal or informal on-the-job training;
- Two years of experience in the application of coatings in the marine industry;
- Ability to take direction required;
- Must be able to work cooperatively and productively with other employees and shipyard personnel;
This position requires regular exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces, precarious places, and close proximity to other employees. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required to avoid injury.
This is a non-exempt position that involves overtime or shift work most of the time, and travel is often required.
Pay range: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience.
