**Job Overview**

The Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) is seeking a highly skilled and reliable Financial Operations Specialist to join our team. This role will provide essential financial, administrative, and clerical support to the agency.

**About the Role**

This position requires an individual with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience in accounting or a related field, with a high school diploma required and a Business or Accounting degree preferred.

**Responsibilities**

  • Collaborate with division staff to ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors
  • Maintain the integrity of financial systems
  • Provide high-quality customer service to schools, programs, staff, and other customers
  • Facilitate payment processing, including verification of federal ID numbers, review of purchase orders, and resolution of discrepancies
  • Receive and verify expense reports; reconcile expenses and other financial reports with account balances and other office records
  • Resolve issues as they arise, ensuring all documentation is in place prior to issuing payment
  • Collaborate with Purchasing staff to resolve any outstanding issues
  • Ensure outstanding obligations are credited upon payment or stop-payment orders as needed
  • Assist with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions
  • Record and verify documentation
  • Utilize electronic systems for communication and documentation management

**Requirements**

  • Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related programs
  • Must be able to learn other accounting software systems; proficiency in Munis preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records

**Compensation**

The estimated salary for this position is between $60,000 and $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, CREC offers a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
