Job Summary

Thompson Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Survey Party Chief to lead our land survey crew in Spanish Fort, AL. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the daily operations of the survey crew, ensuring the accurate collection and reporting of survey data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the survey crew in the daily collection and reporting of survey data
  • Oversee the set up and completion of survey crews on job sites under the direct supervision of the Professional Land Surveyor and/or job supervisor
  • Ensure the proper reporting of daily work logs to the Org Manager
  • Reduce survey data to the Org Manager
  • Interpret blueprints/plans/deeds to effectively lead the survey crew
  • Operate all survey equipment and interpret data to report information to the Org Manager
  • Understand and compute field calculations relative to the survey data collected
  • Effectively manage the time and schedules of the survey crew
  • Ensure on-time and consistent attendance
Requirements
  • Five (5) years of verifiable experience in running a crew in surveying commercial and/or heavy industrial construction stakeout
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to read and comprehend measurements
  • Intermediate math skills, including trigonometry and coordinate geometry
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight based on the work load of the Survey Department
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in the outside elements up to 100% of the time
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
  • Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day and walk long distances
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and climb on a ladder
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites
