Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team at Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our clients.

Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare is a leading provider of behavioral health services in Florida. Our comprehensive treatment programs cater to individuals struggling with mental health issues, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the behavior and activities of each client, reporting any concerns to the appropriate authority.
  • Serve as a positive role model, utilizing approved behavior modification techniques to provide support and encouragement.
  • Conduct and participate in basic life skills activities, such as daily living skills and socialization.
  • Process admissions and discharges for voluntary and involuntary clients, orienting them to the facility and explaining rules and procedures.
  • Complete required program documentation and reports on a timely basis.
  • Document clients' activities, behavior patterns, changes in behavior patterns, and significant events.
  • Ensure clients adhere to established schedules and routines.
  • Obtain necessary program information and inventory client valuables.
  • Collect urine specimens and complete related paperwork.
  • Conduct security checks, monitor visitors and clients for contraband, and perform searches as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, communicate with staff regarding client progress or lack thereof, and perform general cleaning responsibilities.
  • Attend training sessions and in-services as required.
  • Utilize approved de-escalation techniques when interacting with clients.
  • Transport clients to other agencies, hospitals, homes, community activities, and AA meetings as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with CARF, AHCA, DCF, DJJ, and DOC standards and security safeguards.

Requirements:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have six months of related human services experience, preferably as a certified Behavioral Health Technician.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the human services field and basic client care skills.
  • Show ability to utilize behavior management techniques and serve as a role model.
  • Handle verbally and physically abusive clients using aggression control techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with suicidal, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically disturbed clients.
  • Defuse potentially dangerous situations and remain calm in emergencies.

Benefits:

  • A competitive salary range of $35,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience.

  • Tuition reimbursement and paid personal leave (up to 25 days after three years of service).
  • A 403(b) retirement plan with a one-to-one match on employee contributions up to 3% and a 50% match on the next 6%.

Location: This position is based in our Men's Residential facility, with hours and days off varying depending on operational needs. Extra hours may be required.
