Manufacturing Process Optimization Specialist

Job Summary:
SATO America is seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing continuous production and manufacturing processes to achieve the output, quality, and cost goals of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes.
- Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy, and raw materials.
- Develops best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
- Works closely with the production team and quality to analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Designs, runs, tests, and upgrades manufacturing and quality processes.
- Manages cost and time constraints and performs risk assessments.
- Develops work instructions for production using standard work format and provides process documentation and operating instructions to production employees.
- Trains operators on work instructions.
- Supports the operation to specify, install, and startup new equipment, including qualification.
- Provides process engineering support for safety.
- Evaluates quality control processes and makes recommendations for improvements in quality control.
- Analyzes production processes, schedules, methods, and other data and provides management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
- Ensures that the company's manufacturing processes are in compliance with all government laws and regulations.
- Researches, reviews, and collects available technical information as a basis for documentation and writes and maintains end-user documentation and instructional content.
- Coordinates equipment maintenance, repair services procedures, and ensures that manufacturer's procedures and instructions are followed to keep production equipment operational.
- Creates and tracks variable data assignment and programming for customers as needed.
- Creates engineering standards by working with an industrial engineer as new equipment is implemented.
- Communicates findings and proposals to upper management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in business or related field and 5 years' experience or 5+ years related experience as a process engineer in flexographic printing, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must be computer proficient in databases and spreadsheet software.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, interaction, and organizational skills with a strong understanding of equipment capabilities.
- Ability to handle and prioritize a heavy workload to support and interface with a large group of staff members.
- Attention to details and typing skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate projects and training.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
