**About the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, DC**

We are a nationally and internationally recognized organization that inspires equality, justice, and inclusion through the performing arts. Our ensemble consists of a 300-member flagship chorus, a chamber ensemble, an a cappella group, a gospel/inspirational ensemble, and a dance troupe.

With over 40 years of experience, we have presented thoughtful, sophisticated, entertaining, and enlightening concerts to hundreds of thousands of people in the nation's capital, around the United States, and at international venues. Our season is anchored by three major shows presented at the historic Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC.

We are the voice of LGBTQ+ people in Washington, DC for events such as the Kennedy Center Honors, Presidential inaugural festivities, and historically significant ceremonies. In addition to these high-profile events, we perform weekly around the DC metro region at faith communities, businesses, and schools, promoting justice and equality for all through song.

**The Development Director Role**

The Development Director is a new role on our team responsible for managing and implementing all fundraising activities. This position requires strategic and tactical expertise to develop, manage, and execute our annual development plan.

The ideal candidate has a clear grasp of core development components, including individual contributions, annual and online giving campaigns, corporate partnerships, special events, and grant writing. They must have experience managing development operations, including CRM management, budget-building, and gift-processing.

This role reports to and works closely with the Executive Director (ED) and partners with other staff to promote an organizational culture of philanthropy.

**Responsibilities**

  • Contribute positively to organizational culture and reflect our values
  • Actively engage with staff and members to understand our mission and vision
  • Manage and execute development and stewardship plans to achieve revenue goals
  • Ensure a robust gift pipeline by actively managing donors, foundations, and other funders
  • Participate in strategic planning to ensure development plans align with evolving organizational goals
  • Serve as the staff leader and liaison to the board of directors' development committee

**Requirements**

  • A Bachelor's degree and 6-8 years of nonprofit development experience
  • Demonstrable experience as a fundraising generalist with hands-on practice at institutional giving/grant writing, major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnership building, special events, direct mail, and online giving campaigns
  • Experience managing and improving development operations, ranging from CRM management to budget monitoring to gift processing
  • Enthusiasm to propose fresh ideas without prompting by leadership, openness to feedback on those ideas, and persistence to bring them to life

**Compensation and Benefits**

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$100,000 commensurate with experience. We offer a 403(b) retirement plan match after the initial 90-day period.
