About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team at BluePearl Pet Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, providing care and comfort to critically ill or injured patients.

As a key member of our Emergency and Critical Care department, you will be responsible for inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia in patients. You will also triage emergency cases, obtain vital signs, and perform digital radiography using proper technique.

Responsibilities
  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients
  • Triage emergency cases, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including patient positioning
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting veterinarians to changes and issues
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
  • Properly calculate medical math, administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters
  • Mentor and train other co-workers, demonstrating patience and empathy when addressing client concerns
Requirements
  • Possess a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers
  • Have experience working in a veterinary setting, preferably in emergency medicine
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be proficient in phlebotomy, intravenous catheter placement, and other essential skills
