Job Description

Cleanliness is our top priority at Lulac Head Start Inc. We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to maintain the cleanliness of our facility and surrounding grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a clean and orderly environment by performing routine cleaning tasks, such as vacuuming floors, sanitizing restroom facilities, and collecting trash.
  • Ensuring the facility meets all federal, state, and local safety and sanitary requirements.
  • Performing daily building safety inspections, including outdoor spaces.
  • Assisting with snow removal activities and minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs or adjusting furniture.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic math skills are necessary for managing inventory and tracking supplies.
  • Familiarity with occupational hazards safety rules is essential.

Additional Requirements:

  • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods is crucial for this role.
  • Lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds may be required.
  • Safe use of cleaning equipment and supplies is vital.
  • Effective time management and multitasking abilities are necessary.
  • Physical strength and stamina are required for the demands of this position.
  • Excellent organizational skills and good verbal communication skills are essential for working effectively with staff and clients.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks efficiently is critical.
  • A valid driver's license and proof of motor vehicle insurance are necessary for certain aspects of the job.
  • Ability to repair minor carpentry and plumbing tasks is an asset.
