This regional medical center, a primary stroke center, is seeking a board certified/board neurologist to serve as a neuro-hospitalist. The center serves a mix of general neurology, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, stroke, brain injury, and ALS patients. There is also an opportunity to conduct sleep studies if interested. The hospital offers patients the same kind of care they can expect in a larger metropolitan area, including specialty services such as cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac and thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, pulmonology, cancer treatment, orthopedics, physical rehabilitation, and neurosurgery.

What You Can Expect

  • Only work 17 1/2 weeks per year
  • Join two other neuro-hospitalists
  • 1 week on, 2 weeks off
  • Typical day on site is from 7:00A - 6:00P
  • Call is mostly patients already in house or new admits
  • No overnight ED call. Covered by Vanderbilt Tele-Neurology
  • Average of five to seven new consults per day & 9-10 follow up consults
  • Trauma transferred to Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville
  • Primary stroke center
  • Hospital EMR is Paragon
  • ED census of 53,000 per year
  • State-of-the-art neuro-imaging capabilities (MRI, CT, CTA, Nuclear Camera & PET), evoked potentials diagnostics, EEG & EMG
