Centerless Grinding Operations Manager

The Secondary Department Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department, ensuring efficient production while maintaining high-quality standards. This role requires a hands-on technical lead who can manage a small team of operators, troubleshoot machinery issues, and maintain production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a small crew in the department, ensuring work is completed on time and to quality standards.
- Set daily and weekly production schedules, prioritizing work based on production needs and deadlines.
- Operate and maintain various grinding machines, including manual grinders.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with grinding equipment to minimize downtime.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of grinding tools and materials, ensuring the department has the necessary supplies.
- Train and mentor team members, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and best practices.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and take corrective action when necessary.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Maintenance, Quality Control, Engineering) to resolve production issues and improve workflow.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Track production performance metrics and report to upper management.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Centerless Grinding operations.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical skills with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machinery and production issues.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production tracking software is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Relevant technical certifications in grinding or machining are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying
