Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Controversy Specialist to join our Washington National Tax team. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert advice and guidance to clients on complex tax controversy issues, including IRS practice and procedural matters. Your expertise will help us deliver exceptional results for our clients and drive business growth for RSM Global.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with clients and RSM professionals on tax controversy, tax practice and procedure issues.
  • Research and address technical issues related to IRS practice and procedural matters.
  • Represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
  • Prepare written communications to the IRS regarding penalty abatement requests.
  • Work on IRS account issues, corrections and reconciliations.
  • Prepare Private Letter Ruling Requests.
  • Collaborate with other specialty groups on issues that intersect with other technical matters.
  • Participate in firm trainings and mentor staff.
Requirements:
  • J.D., LL.M, CPA or Enrolled Agent license required.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field of law or business degree with at least 4-5 years of experience in tax.
  • Experience with BBA Partnership Audit Rules.
  • R&D Tax Controversy Experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals or clients.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed CPA or J.D.
  • LL.M in Tax (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in Tax.
