Job Description

At Mobius, we are seeking a skilled Navigation Systems Engineer to support the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).

This position will be based at the Washington Navy Yard, and the incumbent will serve as a Navigation Systems Engineer directly supporting the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Warfare System Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  1. Acting as the primary Navigational Systems expert for CVN 68 and CVN 78 Class aircraft carriers.
  2. Providing technical support and assessing risk for technical decisions for Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ford (CVN 78) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and System Engineering Manager (SEM).
  3. Providing engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz (CVN 68) and/or Ford (CVN 78) operational experience.
  4. Responding to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), Liaison Action Request (LAR), Steam Plant Action Request (SPAR), Availability Work Package (AWP) Change Request.
  5. Participating and coordinating technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs).
  6. Reviewing Technical Feedback Reports (TFBRs) for Planned Maintenance System (PMS) changes requiring Designated Technical Representative (DTR) review.
  7. Coordinating with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), Ship Repair Facility (SRF), & other activities to resolve technical matters.
  8. Reviewing technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and providing technical recommendations.
  9. Developing formal presentations to brief to senior officials.
  10. Reviewing ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submitting proposals for changes.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work well alone and as part of a team.

Education:

• Either an Engineering Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience with Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine; or in lieu of degree 10 years' experience as an operator/maintainer of navigation systems on Navy, Coast Guard or Merchant Marine vessels.

• Clearance:

• Active Secret Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship.

• Pay Range: $110,000-$130,000 USD.
