Warehouse Worker

About the Role:

Sysco, a leading foodservice distribution company, is seeking a skilled Warehouse Worker to join our team in Columbus, OH.

Job Summary:

This position involves hand-building pallets of product and loading product onto trailers according to established company and customer standards. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Read pick sheets and navigate warehouse locations using a pallet jack.
• Pick products accurately, label them, and load them onto trucks according to designated zones and standards.
• Handle products safely, maintaining proper food safety procedures.
• Ensure the warehouse remains clean and safe, addressing spills or damaged cases promptly.
• Communicate effectively with management regarding issues, such as products, stock levels, safety concerns, or food safety matters.
• Operate company equipment, including forklifts and scanners, safely and efficiently.
• Report equipment issues to management.
• Complete paperwork and use a wearable computer to track time spent on assignments for productivity reporting.
• Work assigned schedules, exhibiting regular attendance and meeting workload demands when needed.

Qualifications:

Education

• High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree

Experience

• 6 months of previous warehouse experience preferred; or equivalent work experience in place of a degree.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

• Forklift and pallet jack license/certification.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, reach, bend, and talk.
• Lift and move up to 50-90 pounds regularly.
• Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation:

The estimated salary for this role in Columbus, OH is $24.91-$32.73 per hour, based on industry standards and job requirements.
