Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing specialized radiologic procedures involving the application of prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.

The Radiologic Technologist will operate imaging devices in the operating room, including portable and fixed fluoroscopy, portable CT, an O-Arm, and portable radiography.

This position is an integral component of the operating room team and provides direct patient care, which may include accessing and administering medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

Responsibilities

  • Performs CT and special procedures using CT scanners, including portable and angiographic high-pressure injectors.
  • Operates portable imaging devices, such as the Portable X-ray machine, O-Arm, and C-Arm.
  • Coordinates the activities for technical services in the operating room.
  • Communicates with surgical staff to establish correct site, type of surgery, and placement of equipment in the room.
  • Performs angiographic or radiology interventional procedures.
  • Maintains the integrity of equipment.
  • Assists in reducing waste by properly utilizing resources and materials provided.
  • Approaches management with proposed solutions to problems.
  • Ensures new procedures and protocols are implemented as designed.
  • Analyzes images for quality.
  • Performs necessary radiology functions in Epic Radiant.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions outlined above.
  • Ability to provide care to the population served.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
  • Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
  • Proficient in electronic medical record databases.

Qualifications

  • ARRT Registration as a Radiologic Technologist R.T. (R) (ARRT).
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah.
