Family Law Specialist

As a Family Law Paralegal, you'll be an integral part of our team, providing administrative and legal support to our family law attorneys.
Key Responsibilities- Draft and prepare documents, including agreements and pleadings, for filing in lawsuits.
- Monitor and execute civil procedure steps, including research, client interaction, and case management.
- Communicate with clients to obtain discovery responses, summarize discovery responses from adversaries, and work closely with attorneys on escalated matters.
- Assist in trial preparation, including making, copying, and organizing exhibits, and compiling exhibit notebooks.
- Record and track deadlines through docketing and calendaring processes.
- Negotiate and prepare settlement agreements, ensuring files are ready for hearings by reviewing case notes and drafting appropriate motions and orders.
- Provide case updates to clients via email, monitoring and updating account information regularly.
- Screen telephone calls, incoming mail, and correspondence from court personnel, sheriff deputies, local counsel, defendants, and adversary attorneys.
- Perform monthly online compliance training/testing.
- Perform legal research and other related duties assigned by management and/or supervising attorneys.
We're seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure, particularly in North Carolina. Prior family law experience is a plus, and a strong ability to analyze and problem-solve is essential.
Requirements- Minimum of 1-3 years of paralegal experience in litigation practice.
- Prior family law experience, including familiarity with North Carolina family court rules, is strongly preferred.
- Associate degree and/or Paralegal Certification for North Carolina are desired.
- Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience using electronic filing systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience tracking and recording billable hours and related time entries.
- Proven ability to work in a team and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to analyze and problem-solve, with a self-starter mindset and proven ability to work independently.
- Proficient in drafting and strong attention to detail.
- Type 50+ WPM.
