Electrical Systems Specialist

The Utility and Control Electrician plays a vital role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing electrical equipment in a waste processing facility. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and correct problems in electrical systems associated with petroleum processing facilities
- Plan and execute complex electrical installations, modifications, and upgrades
- Maintain knowledge of and adhere to the latest published National Electric Code
- Develop and maintain electrical drawings, instrument calibration records, and other documentation
- Respond to preventive and corrective maintenance work orders, document action taken
- Design and specify conduit runs, panel size and location
- Electrical rough-in and provide training and guidance to assistants as needed
- Maintain inventory levels of critical supplies and equipment
- Maintain hygiene of enclosures
- Attend to electrical needs of the laboratory and offices
- Assist Instrument Technicians with work orders
- Comply with safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times
- Will to develop new skills and build existing skills
- Respond to emergency call-ins
Requirements:
- Ability to select and use tools associated with the electrical trade such as multimeters, clamp meters, voltage testers
- Ability to safely work and advise others on how to safely work in the proximity of electrical equipment and infrastructure, including use of PPE, lock out/tag out, labeling of hazards
- Ability to interpret and draft electrical diagrams
- Ability to specify wire, conduit, breakers, fuses, and other components for equipment
- Knowledge of best practices including use of mechanical drains, drain wire, conduit support, ventilation, home runs, heat management, color-coding, and sealing
- Basic knowledge of the working theory and electrical requirements of instrumentation such as flow, pressure, temperature, & level transmitters, HART/4-20, control valves & I/P is desired
- Basic knowledge of networking infrastructure and equipment such as ethernet, fiber-optic communications, and switches is desired
Education, Certificates, & Licenses:
- Possesses and maintains General Electrician certification
- Participates in required state-accredited continuing education funded by the Company
- MEWP certification is desired
Language Skills:
- Ability to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is desired
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to wear half face, full face, and supplied-air respirators
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
- Occasional travel to other World Oil facilities
