Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse to join our Gastroenterology team at Carle Health. As a Clinical Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and promoting the safety and well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient care, preparing patients for examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures.
- Apply nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care within licensure guidelines.
- Provide telephone triage, documenting advice for home care of illnesses/conditions, and conducting follow-up phone calls as necessary.
- Administer vaccines and medications, place urinary catheters and IVs per protocol and license.
- Schedule referrals for patients with specialists or outpatient services as requested by healthcare providers.
- Complete appropriate forms or requisitions needed for referrals or lab testing, including CPT/ICD-9 coding.
- Understand impatient and outpatient specialty procedures, ensuring compliance with precertification requirements.
- Track system for follow-up appointments related to office visits, laboratory tests, and procedures to regularly follow patients monitoring disease status.
- Provide timely documentation in the patient's electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes.
- Supervise delegated duties to LPN and CMA on approved clinical protocols.
Requirements:
- College Diploma in Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nurses.
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License, current license to practice nursing in the State of Illinois for Registered Nurse.
- No previous clinical experience required beyond education requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work as a team member, and ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures.
