Job Overview
This part-time LPN position is based in Hillsboro, Oregon, and requires 36 hours of work per week. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clinicians in providing quality care to patients, adhering to established regional and departmental protocols.
- Perform focused nursing assessments and triage on routine or self-limiting medical conditions as directed by RNs/clinicians.
- Recognize signs and symptoms of common medical conditions and implement planned interventions as delegated.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, or modification of individualized patient plans of care under the direction of RNs/clinicians.
- Provide health education and advice on routine medical conditions, procedures, tests, surgeries, and self-injections.
Clinical Procedures
- Perform diagnostic tests, therapies, and procedures within the scope of practice, competently and with maintenance of proficiency.
- Administer medications via various routes, including oral, topical, otic, rectal, vaginal, IM, SubQ, intradermal, IV (insertion & removal of peripheral lines), ophthalmic, bladder, inhalation, and nasal routes.
- Provide wound care, including routine and complex dressing changes, staple/suture removal, ostomy, drains management, etc.
- Apply and/or remove orthopedic appliances and other devices, such as splints, slings, orthotics, casts, crutch management, anti-embolic stockings measurement, procedural safety restraints, etc.
- Tubing insertions/care, lab specimen collection and labeling, irrigations, instrument/equipment set-up, cleaning, and processing (sterile and non-sterile).
Practice Management Activities
- Maintain and adjust clinicians' patient schedules for efficient visits and overbooking.
- Respond to incoming messages/requests via telephone, mail, or kp.org from patients or other departments, collecting and communicating pertinent data requiring clinicians' review and input.
- Facilitate and complete follow-up duties on patients' plans of care as directed by clinicians, including processing prescriptions and forms, reminders of screening/diagnostic tests due, scheduling/staging procedures, tests, referrals, and/or return appointments, and obtaining and inputting patient data to monitor progress into the electronic medical record.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Practical Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire or Compact License: Practical Nurse within 6 months of hire.
- Practical Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of nursing experience in assigned departments' clinical area within an ambulatory care setting.
- IV therapy experience or recent certification.
- Familiarity in documenting in an electronic medical record system.
- Current working knowledge and clinical skills in providing routine care, education, and advice in assigned departments' clinical area.
Salary Range: $50-$70 per hour
