Job Summary:

NISC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Installation Intern to join our Technical Implementations Team. As a Technical Installation Intern, you will provide IT system and application support to NISC employees and customers, working closely with our Technical Implementations Team to ensure seamless technical support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and update Veeam Backup and Replication software for NISC members.
  • Monitor Veeam Backup and Replication jobs run at NISC member sites and in NISC's Veeam data center.
  • Assist the Technical Implementations Team with configuration of Linux and Windows servers and virtual machines.
  • Perform OS package and service pack upgrades on existing servers.
  • Create and test printers on Windows and Linux servers.
  • Install SSL certificates on Linux servers.
  • Monitor Windows and Linux servers via Xymon monitoring tools.
  • Log and develop action plans for support issues identified by Xymon.
  • Ensure that all information is appropriately entered and utilized in the iVUE Support tool.

Requirements:

  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows servers and operating systems.
  • Familiarity with the setup and support of TCP/IP networks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to change.
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to convey technical solutions to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of professionalism, ethical behavior, and confidentiality.

Education and Certification:

  • Working towards the completion of an Associate or Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must be able to lift up to 30 pounds as well as be able to see, speak, and hear, to operate computer keyboards or office equipment, and are required to stand, walk, and sit.
