Carpentry Specialist

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our Facilities team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing basic and complex carpentry and maintenance tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of Laboratory facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Constructs, modifies and maintains buildings and wood structures from verbal and written instructions.
• Works with wood, wood products, plastics, metals, and other materials common to the construction industry.
• Uses hand, portable, and fixed tools common to the building and cabinet-making industries.
• Works from prints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
• Performs complex construction tasks requiring a high degree of technical skill and experience.
• Interacts with other trades, scientific staff, and the Laboratory's administration in the performance of job duties.
• Performs other carpentry or maintenance duties under the direction of the Master Carpenter or Supervisor, Carpentry.

Requirements:

• EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent.
• SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years of carpentry experience. Must be able to follow detailed instructions and concentrate on routine tasks. Must be able to operate.
