Substation Design Engineer

Qualus Services is seeking a Substation Design Engineer to join our team of experts in grid modernization, resiliency, security, and sustainability. As a key member of our power services firm, you will have the opportunity to work on comprehensive solutions for utilities, commercial, industrial, and government clients, as well as renewable and energy storage developers.
About the Role:- Design substation layouts utilizing applicable codes and client standards, including general arrangements, equipment and electrical layout, elevation views, cable trench, grounding studies, conduit drawings, grounding grids, lightning protection and grounding plans, AC/DC power systems, and bill of materials.
- Collaborate with Protection & Control Engineers, Relay Settings Engineers, and other groups to ensure design concurrence and complete calculations such as AC/DC load, bus spans, and ampacity.
- Create equipment and material specifications for procurement of engineered equipment and develop design scope and cost estimates.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school (Mechanical Engineering degrees accepted for some roles) with a focus on power systems.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office product application, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation.
- Educational experience directly related to working with medium to high voltage electricity (preferred).
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers.
- Strong computer skills.
